Latest transfer rumour:Villa might bring Owen back to the BPL by offering him a 70k/week paycheck! Nooooooooooo! Of all strikers to purchase, never EVER Owen! I beg you!
Not only is Owen heading for a sharp decline at the end of his career, he will cost us too much, and he will spend most of his time on the sidelines! At least Laursen put in a good couple of seasons before he had to retire.
Owen has lost his once blistering pace due to dodgy hamstrings. Lost abit of his edge because of not being able to play regularly, built too slight to be able to hold up the ball, too short to be heading in goals. With the above reasons, why should we sign him? Leave him for Everton! They seem to like injury-prone strikers! (i.e. Saha) Not that I think Owen's a donkey of a player, but it's just too huge a risk to be the club which brings him back to the BPL where he rightfully belongs to.
There's just something called foresight! Sir Alex is spot on to realise players on the decline and offloaded them while he could and I'm sure Martin O'Neill has that ability too! I mean, I would think some emerging talent like Danny Welbeck or Federico Macheda (I still hate that guy) would prove to be an even brilliant buy than Owen! Lee Sharpe, Robbie Fowler, Francis Jeffers and Michael Owen all belong to the same category. They were glorious once in their lifetime, but they must accept the day when they are no longer good enough for the top level of football.
