Another budget eating experience with Elayne last nite after badminton, right at the heart of AMK at the Blk 724 Food Centre!We started off with a $3 helping of Satay Bee Hoon from Centre Satay Bee Hoon (#01-12), which was served hot and promptly. Certainly the best SBH I've had since young. The only memorable one I've ever had was from Chinatown, but that was too long ago for me to remember how it tasted like. The satay sauce was sublime and got me scooping the remaining sauce up even when there weren't any 'liao' left! The only complaint would be that they gave us only ONE measly prawn! Still, a dish that combines everything well and deserves a return to the place again! Rating: 8.5/10
Correct me with regards to the history of this stall, but when I remembered about this place a few years ago, I recalled that there were 2 satay bee hoon stalls side by side at Blk 724, and the competition was fierce. Whenever you had the intention to order SBH, both stalls would rush to tout their stall, making sure you ate at that stall rather than the other. Was one of them Centre Satay Bee Hoon? Because I spotted another SBH stall on a different row and that sparked my memory abit.
We also had white, crispy chai tao kway (carrot cake) from Hai Sheng Carrot Cake which is still one of the best white CTK we've had, other than the Glutton's Bay (Huat Huat BBQ Chicken Wings/Carrot Cake) one, which is still the best we've had. For $2, it was a decent portion and it had a nice bite with the crispy 'skin' and I guess my only gripe would be, just a little bit more of 'chai por' would be perfect! Flavour was nice and really good value for money. Rating: 8/10
Oh, and we had 2 LARGE CUPS of Koi (50岚) Bubble Tea, making it a grand total of 4 cups in 2 days! Just to celebrate their AMK Central grand opening! Haha..make sure you try the normal milk tea, the milk tea with grass jelly, and also, the oolong milk tea! I swear, the oolong one tastes abit like seaweed, but it's good!There goes the workout from badminton!
